The Assistant Director for Global Initiatives provides support to the Institute for Global Engagement with responsibility for developing and managing University of Houston global initiatives and opportunities for students, faculty, and staff. These include management, advising, marketing, and reporting on the Global Citizens Credential and Peace Corps Prep Programs, the Fulbright Scholars and Specialists opportunities, and other global priorities in support of the IGE and university goals and objectives.
  • Serves on IGE leadership team developing and supporting UH global initiatives for students, faculty, staff, colleges, and special projects.
  • Manages the Global Citizens Credential and Peace Corps prep programs, including advising students, managing global course catalog, confirming program completion, collaborating with program stakeholders, and leading program events and marketing.
  • Coordinates Fulbright scholars and specialists awards, supporting faculty and staff in applications, marketing for the awards and deadlines, maintains records, and collaborating with the Fulbright program to ensure program growth.
  • Establishes relationships with faculty and staff and serves as programmatic liaison to all colleges to develop new global initiatives.
  • Interacts with Learning Abroad, University Partnerships, Global Events, and other globally-focused offices on campus to ensure consistency and synergy in the implementation of global initiatives.
  • Leads the International Education Week committee annually in collaboration with other global offices.
  • Prepares analytical and statistical reports for leadership.
  • Designs and evaluates strategies to expand program offerings for global initiatives.
  • Performs other job-related duties as requires.

This position works within the Institute for Global Engagement managing the Global Citizens Credential and Peace Corps Prep programs, other internal funding and outreach programs, serves as campus Fulbright Scholar liaison, and supports the development of global initiatives at UH. The position frequently presents at campus events, information sessions, classroom visits, and will advise students in participating in the programs mentioned. This position will also supervise the Passport for Coogs functional area, including supervising the Passport Manager and the area's reporting, strategic outreach, and compliance with US Department of State passport facility guidelines. Masters and 3 years experience

Education: Requires application of advanced principles, techniques and theory in a professional discipline or a thorough general business management knowledge. Knowledge of this level is typically obtained through a directly job-related Master's degree or equivalent formal training in a recognized field of specialization that is directly related to the type of work being performed.Experience: Requires a minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience.
