Job Summary

Support the internalization goals of the College and LAS units through curricular integration of international experiences and global learning; lead the College's international student support and student mobility initiatives; develop and administer experiential learning opportunities for both domestic and international students; serve on the SAAO leadership team, represent the College with international partners and with campus leadership on matters of international education and programming.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and provide leadership for professional staff dedicated to teaching global perspectives courses (LAS 100, 199, 291/292, 399 and other relevant courses), support faculty in the development of global classrooms and faculty-led courses abroad, managing education abroad and exchange programs, Global Leaders Program, and international student initiatives.
  • Lead efforts to develop, execute, assess and report on all LAS International Programs activities, including financial, programmatic and academic oversight.
  • Develop and expand international experiential learning, research, and career development programs aligned with academic units and LAS Career Services.
  • Identify, build and maintain international partnerships in collaboration with faculty, units and other campus stakeholders. Serve as Dean Designee for all LAS international exchange, study abroad and cooperative educational agreements
  • Represent LAS in strategic conversations with campus partners and leadership on the direction of education abroad and international student support and serve as LAS liaison with all campus international offices.
  • Serve as LAS liaison with Advancement and Alumni Relations on donor relations, fundraising and alumni engagement in relation to education abroad and international students.
  • Serve as a member of the LAS SAAO Leadership Team, representing International Programs and participate in the shared responsibilities within LAS SAAO including academic progress review, planning for and assessment of office impact, and LAS student recruitment and orientation.
  • Serve as point of escalation for all program emergencies and primary contact with International Safety and Security

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in international education, Liberal Arts and Sciences or field related to the position. Five (5) years of experience coordinating a student affairs program or specialized advising area. One (1) year experience providing leadership of advising or student affairs program, managing budgets, overseeing hiring and promotions for staff and students.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in international education or related field. Experience working with faculty in the design of programs abroad. Minimum of three years experience working in college student advising. Demonstrated ability to assess impact of programming. Teaching, research and course development experience. Experience working with alumni, donors and external partners. International work or study. Graduate studies or similar demonstrated interest in issues in undergraduate education and experiential learning. Evidence of effective mentoring and supervision of student or professional staff. Demonstrated experience in effectively managing student affairs programming or student academic advising program.

Successful candidates will have 

  • Knowledge of international education issues and resources;
  • knowledge of undergraduate advising issues and resources.
  • Excellent ability to work independently as well as collaboratively, with a wide range of on-campus and off-campus constituencies, including faculty and students.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, intercultural and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective collaboration skills as demonstrated by previous group-designed and led projects.
  • Excellent initiative and ability to work independently with a wide range of on-campus and off-campus constituencies.
  • Knowledge of at least one foreign language. Awareness of, and sensitivity to, cultural and linguistic differences.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline date. The minimum salary for this position is $80,000.  Final salary offered will be determined by a thorough assessment of available market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints.
