Program Coordinator for Residence Life and New Student Programs

Job Summary

This position is located at the University of Utah Asia Campus in South Korea. This position provides programs and services for a comprehensive Residence Life Program and coordinates New Student programs. This position is charged with creating an atmosphere that promotes student engagement, academic success, personal development, respect for diversity, and a strong sense of community within a residential life community with housing options on and off campus. Provide leadership for a community of student learners and supervise Resident Assistants, Community Assistants and Hall Council Members. The Program Coordinator (PC) is responsible for the overall management and implementation of a housing application, assignment, and billing processes for the living options on and off campus. The PC shall plan and implement new student programs and will serve as the co-chair of the New Student Orientations with the Assistant Dean of Students, which occur twice a year. This position will report directly to the Assistant Dean of Students and contribute to student satisfaction with their collegiate experience by building a sense of campus community.


Residence Life· Create a positive residential experience that promotes learning and retention of students through the facilitation of a residence life learning model with housing located both on and off campus.· Serve as a student conduct officer for minor and mid-level conduct issues, under supervision of Dean of Students Office· Student Care and Support Promote a safe and secure living environment, respond to student concerns, crises, and emergencies as they arise, and work collaboratively with various campus and community partners on education and response to emergencies or crimes.· Serve as the primary contact for the 24-hour emergency on-call coverage system within residence life.· Coordinate residential life on campus, including hiring, training, and supervising Resident Assistants (on-campus), Community Assistants (off-campus) and Hall Council members.· Work closely with third party campus partners concerning all housing facilities and issues.· Manage the housing application process and room assignments for all Utah Asia Campus residents.· Develop and advise a Residence Hall Programming Council to create co-curricular opportunities within residence life.New Student Programs· Serve as the co-chair for new student orientation for the incoming Utah Asia Campus students each semester.· Ensure a smooth transition process for new students to the Utah Asia Campus students; this may include providing workshops, one-on-one meetings, and student advocacy.· Co-Supervise the new student orientation leaders and provide ongoing support for their leadership development.· Collaborate with International Student Programs Coordinator for seamless delivery of orientation experience for international, learning abroad, and other special student groups enrolling at the Utah Asia Campus.· Develop and implement programs and services that support First Year Student Success.Other Responsibilities· Remain knowledgeable of all programs offered at the Utah Asia Campus.· Be familiar with services and programs on the SLC campus and be able to respond or refer appropriately to student inquiries, particularly regarding housing, counselling services (referrals), disability services (referrals), and student activities and career services.· Serve in planning committees related to student affairs, alumni outreach, and commencement.· Work as a collaborative team member to provide seamless service to all students.· Other duties as assigned by the Chief Administrative Officer and Assistant Dean of Students.

Minimum Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus one year of directly related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).· Master’s degree preferred.· Bilingual, English and Korean required.· Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content.· Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines.· Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.· Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
