New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in International Education to begin in September 2024. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Department of Applied Statistics, Social Science, and Humanities (ASH). This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal for an additional year.We are committed to substantially increasing the proportion of our faculty from underrepresented groups as we strive to create an intellectually diverse, inclusive, and equitable program.
Position Description: The field of specialization for this position is open, but we are particularly interested in candidates whose work focuses on one or more of the following topics: cultural exchange; experiential education; study abroad; education, peace, and conflict; globalization and comparative education; or, international education policy and advocacy.
Responsibilities: The primary responsibility is to teach undergraduate and graduate students with a 3:3 teaching load. A course reduction would be considered for the following types of administrative work: helping to support program expansion, facilitating outreach to and practical experiences with local schools and international organizations, providing significant professional mentorship for undergraduate and graduate students, supervising research and internships for graduates and undergraduates in New York and globally.
Required: Candidates should have a doctorate (earned or anticipated by August 31st 2024) in international education or a related field as well as experience teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
Preferred: Experience in program administration, coordination, and expansion is a plus. Moreover we would prefer candidates who have access to deep networks within and knowledge of education systems and organizations promoting educational exchange and/or contemporary issues in international education.
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $115,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
