About La Salle Academy:

La Salle Academy is a Catholic, college preparatory school, sponsored by the Brothers of the Christian Schools (De La Salle Christian Brothers). Located in the heart of Providence, RI for 150 years, La Salle Academy currently serves a diverse student body of approximately 1,425 students from grades 6 through 12. The majority of students live in the 39 cities and towns of Rhode Island or in southeastern Massachusetts.

Role Focus:

The Director of Admissions will oversee and direct the admissions program to achieve enrollment goals and support the school's missions. The Director will collaborate with many school offices, including Academics, Counseling, Business Office, and Marketing & Communications to achieve these goals. The Director must effectively and passionately communicate the value and mission of La Salle to prospective families. The position reports to the President and is a full-time, 12 month per year position.

Typical Education and Experience:

7-10 years of experience in an admission or recruiting role, with the ideal candidate serving in an independent school environment. A minimum of a bachelor's degree required, with preference for an advanced degree. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Experience with relational database systems required, familiarity with Blackbaud products is necessary. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty, administrators, parents, and guests. Fluency in Spanish perferred.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with the Vice Principal of Academics to set the standards and protocols for admission and ensures they are being adhered to
  • Works with the President to establish enrollment objectives for each grade level
  • Coordinates and administers the entrance exam for all incoming students
  • Ensures all required materials are received, sorted, and prepared for review by the Admissions Committee in a timely manner
  • Manages the Admissions Office and ensures it is staffed appropriately
  • Acts as the Designated School Official (DSO) and oversees the marketing/recruitment for International Students to La Salle Academy.
  • Ensure a seamless student experience from prospective student, to accepted student, to enrolled student
  • Plans and develops an annual admissions calendar to ensure key events are scheduled and staffed appropriately, being mindful of other school activities
  • Plans and develops an annual recruitment/marketing program for De La Salle Middle School and La Salle Academy
  • Prepares and nurtures successive three-year plans for the middle school and high school admissions/marketing programs.
  • Develops, organizes, and staffs major events such as Open House, Accepted Students Night, and Orientations
  • Attend school fairs at regional parochial schools, makes visits to local middle schools, attends other appropriate events
  • Produces an annual evaluation of the recruitment program for the middle and high school
  • Coordinates the Student and Parent Ambassador programs
  • Performs periodic market research and analysis to best understand when, where, and how to market the School to maximize enrollment objectives
Administrative & Other
  • Performs annual reviews for all direct reports
  • Develops a network of professional associations in Rhode Island Schools, the Diocese of Providence, buisness, foundations, community service, and social organizations
  • Maintain statistical reports on all aspects of enrollment trends, market demand, and demographic analysis, and report on such matters regularly
  • Other duties as assigned in support of department objectives

Typical Level of Interaction:

The position requires frequent interaction and communication with all School constituents while completing necessary duties. A welcoming and approachable demeanor is paramount for success.

Supervisory Impact:

The Director of Admissions will oversee all admissions staff, including the High School & Middle School Admissions Counselors and the department Administrative Assistance.
