GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Assessment Support teacher plays a crucial role in evaluating student learning and progress. This involves the use of various diagnostic tools and techniques, including developmental testing and specific evaluations, to determine student ability and performance levels and to inform instructional planning in the Sahuarita Unified School District.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Administer assessments and evaluations relevant to special education eligibility using appropriate diagnostic tools and methods (as assigned by school psychologist)
  • Organize, schedule and facilitate computer-based testing (individual or group), including Gifted assessments
  • Gather data from various sources to identify patterns, trends, and root causes
  • Develop comprehensive and detailed reports outlining findings, conclusions, and recommendations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine the most effective solutions/ interventions
  • Review student educational records
  • Participate in school-based intervention team meetings, eligibility meetings and IEP meetings when indicated
  • Communicate diagnostic findings
  • Assist in the selection of assessment materials and equipment
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest diagnostic techniques, technologies, and industry best practices
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and standards
  • Document all activities, findings, and recommendations thoroughly and accurately
  • Schedule meetings with and for school psychologists
  • Helps team to ensure that students are placed in the least restrictive environment
  • Consult with teachers regarding the academic and behavioral needs of students
  • Schedule and coordinate Multidisciplinary Educational Team meetings in support of school psychologist team
  • Performs related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
  • Arizona Special Education Teaching or School Counselor Certification
  • Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with various diagnostic tools and/or software
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement student interventions
  • Ability to communicate complex assessment data and implications (both verbally and in written form) to parents, school staff.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

TIME MANAGEMENT: Must plan as much as one year in advance;

PUBLIC CONTACT: Interacts with employees, students, parents, and the general public;

LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY: Must oversee program and students and may have the responsibility for equipment and highly confidential records;

EVALUATION PROCEDURE: In accordance with Governing Board policy;

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director of Student Services or Designee

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.
