Elementary Student Services Coordinator

to join our caring staff at Hastings Elementary School

beginning in the 2024-2025 school year.

Job Title: Student Services Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Student Services and Building Principal

The Student Services Coordinator has proven experience and a passion for special education, communication, and student learning, engagement, and growth in the least restrictive environment (LRE). Key components of this position include the ability to establish positive, strong relationships with all stakeholders, foster student independence, and to support staff in accomplishing District and building initiatives in accordance with the Westborough Public Schools Strategic Plan and the Fales Elementary School Improvement Plan. Knowledge of IDEA regulations and the IEP TEAM process and sound management of complex and potentially litigious matters are key components of this job. Provides direct staff supervision in concert with the Fales Elementary Principal, and collaborates with School Counselor, Clinical Support Team and District Administration.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Master's degree from an accredited college/university in a related field
  • Professional Certification:
  • MA DESE licensure in Special Education Administration
  • Minimum of two years as a Student Services Coordinator strongly preferred
  • Hiring Requirement: Successful completion of Criminal Records Check (CORI), and DESE mandated fingerprints
  • Specialized Knowledge: Understanding of IEP process and of special education regulations, child development, curriculum frameworks, growth mindset, inclusive practices, cultural proficiency, anti-racist instruction, co-teaching, social-emotional learning, technology integration.

Preferred Experience:
  • Direct teaching experience, programmatic oversight, as well as facilitating teaching and learning, including students with emotional, behavioral, and/or learning challenges
  • Highly desirable to have experience with:
  • Differentiating instruction via Universal Design Learning (UDL) practices
  • Principles of Inclusion and modeling Inclusive Practices
  • Facilitating and overseeing Co-Taught and supported classrooms
  • Specialized programming
  • Well versed in technology: Google platform
  • Multi Tiered Systems of Support
  • Special Education IDEA regulations, IEPs, and BSEA Hearing and litigation process
  • Social/Emotional Learning and Mental Health systems of support
  • Supervision and Evaluation

Skills:

Performance responsibilities include but may not be limited to:
  • Creates a welcoming and supportive learning environment that embraces the diversity among individuals and ensures equitable opportunities for student learning
  • Provides learning experiences across all subject areas as guided by the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, National Standards and district standards and requirements
  • Monitors students' IEPs and works closely with the Principal, Curriculum Coordinators, and teachers to ensure access to the curriculum through differentiated lesson planning, instruction, and assessment
  • Collaborates with the Principal to develop building the based schedule and student placement to ensure that students have access to the curriculum in the LRE in accordance with their individual needs.
  • Participates in professional development activities, both internal and external, and maintains requirements for licensure recertification
  • Participates in all faculty and committee meetings as required, and district-wide committees as needed
  • Any other relative duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Student Services Coordinator has supervisory responsibilities for special education teachers, para-educators, related service providers,and other staff as assigned in conjunction with the building Principal.

Salary and Benefits:

Salary and benefits, for permanent benefits eligible staff, are per the contract between the Westborough School Committee

and the Westborough Administrators.
