JOB TITLE: Assistant Director of Student Services

The Assistant Director of Student Services will work closely with the Director of Student Services to ensure the delivery of high-quality and inclusive educational services to students with special needs, students learning English as a second language, and students on 504s.

  • Assist the Director of Student Services in planning, developing, and implementing programs and services to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, and administrators, to identify and address student support needs.
  • Coordinate and monitor the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Section 504 plans, as well as programming for ESOL education.
  • Advocate for students' rights and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act.
  • Provide guidance and support to staff members on special education, counseling, and student support services.
  • Manage a team of support staff, including special education teachers, counselors, and other student services personnel.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine student needs and progress.
  • Develop and deliver professional development opportunities for staff members.
  • Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to enhance student support services and resources.
  • Stay updated on best practices, research, and trends in special education and student support services.
  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field (required).
  • Valid state certification in Special Education (required).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of teaching experience in special education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to special education.
  • Strong understanding of assessment and evaluation processes for students with special needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and leadership abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices and strategies for students with disabilities.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and other specialized tools/resources used in special education.
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity, equity, and social-emotional development for students with special needs.
JOB TYPE: Year Round

This is an 8 hour work day with paid sick days, vacation days, paid holidays, and PTO days.

Pay: $90-100k per year
