Description
NAFSA Association of International Educators is the world’s largest association of professionals committed exclusively to advancing international education and exchange. The association provides professional development opportunities, promotes research and knowledge, and convenes conference and collaborative dialogues.
The Leadership and Professional Development Services (LPDS) team leads NAFSA’s efforts to create and deliver professional development programs and services to the international education field. The LDPS department is comprised of the following professional areas:
- Education Abroad (EA)
- International Student/Scholar Services and International Enrollment Management (ISSS/IEM)
- Learning & Training
- Regional Affairs
- Volunteer Engagement
This internship is a joint position, shared between the departmental units and reporting to the director, professional development programs, who will coordinate assigned projects.
Fall 2024 Intern Projects (September through Mid-December):
- Support the recruitment and enrollment of trainees for the NAFSA Academy for International Education.
- Build social media posts to support promotion of LPDS learning events, especially related to the regional conferences, the Academy, and the fall Management Development Program. Collect illustrative stories from volunteers, especially newer professionals.
- Support 2-3 online events for the international education community, including assisting with registration, promotion, and online logistics for the event.
- Assist with correspondence, by email or phone.
- Review, update, organize, or edit existing web and print resource materials.
- Assist with departmental preparations for the NAFSA regional conferences, which may include material printing, collating, and packing items for shipment to the conference site.
- Participate in department and unit meetings and, when needed, assist with organizing meeting materials.
Compensation: $17.50/hour for up to 20 hours per week with opportunity for prorated holiday and retirement benefits, if eligible.

Requirements
The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter; proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications, especially Excel and Word; experienced with customer service; adept with Zoom, Canva, and social media platforms; and have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Preferred candidates will have an interest in and/or knowledge of higher education, international education, international education research, and U.S. campus internationalization.
To be considered, you must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the US without requiring NAFSA’s sponsorship. We welcome students with valid work authorization, including those wishing to complete their experiential learning through their established curricular practical training (CPT), optional practical training (OPT), or academic training eligibility.
