Description

NAFSA: Association of International Educators is the world’s largest association of professionals committed exclusively to advancing international education and exchange. The association provides professional development and learning opportunities, promotes research and knowledge, and convenes conferences and collaborative dialogues. 

 

The Knowledge Development (KDEV) team leads NAFSA’s efforts to further higher education internationalization; produce publications, thought leadership, and trend analyses; and provide robust conference and other program content and networking experiences for the international education field. The KDEV department consists of the following areas:

  • Conference Program
  • Publishing Services
  • Academic Affairs and Internationalization 

 

This internship is a joint position, shared between the departmental units and reporting to the Associate Director, Research & Scholarship, who will help coordinate assigned projects.  

 

Fall 2024 Intern Projects (September through Mid-December):

  • Create an inventory of current Senior International Officers to inform outreach and engagement strategies as well as the recruitment of volunteer leaders. 
  • Assist with efforts to build an organization-wide story bank, including auditing existing stories to identify gaps and ensuring global and diverse voices.
  • Create social media posts and blog posts to promote the 2025 Annual Conference, NAFSA publications, and KDEV programs, including the Executive Internationalization Leadership e-Institute, the Hudzik Prize, and the Simon Awards. 
  • Assist with preparations for virtual and in-person programs managed by KDEV (Senior Leader Summit, virtual webinars, global visitor groups, etc.). 
  • Contribute ideas for engagement with young professionals and graduate students.
  • Review web pages and make recommendations for changes and streamlining.
  • Participate in department and unit meetings and, when needed, assist with organizing meeting materials.

 

Compensation: $17.50/hour for up to 20 hours per week with opportunity for prorated holiday and retirement benefits, if eligible.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented self-starter; proficient with Microsoft Office suite applications, especially Excel and Word; experienced with customer service; adept with Zoom and social media platforms; and have excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills. Preferred candidates will have an interest in and/or knowledge of higher education, global affairs, event planning, and project management.

 

 

To be considered, you must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the US without requiring NAFSA’s sponsorship. We welcome students with valid work authorization, including those wishing to complete their experiential learning through their established curricular practical training (CPT), optional practical training (OPT), or academic training eligibility.

$17.50/hr for up to 20 hours per week
