Job Responsibilities
The Student Development Counselor provides individual and group counseling services to enrolled and prospective students in the areas of personal, crisis intervention, career development, life-planning, and academic placement and support services. In addition, the counselor will work with students with disabilities assisting with accommodation issues. Plans and organizes professional workshops for faculty and students as needed. This position is located at our Palmer Campus.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
This position requires a bachelor’s degree and experience in student services programs. Preferred candidates will have two (2) years experience in student services programs.
Preferred Qualifications
A master’s degree in counseling, psychology or social work with at least two (2) years of professional experience in student services programs is highly preferred. Knowledge and skills of individual and group counseling techniques and practices, disabilities-related services theory, crisis management, career development, academic advisement and ADA and Section 504 requirements are essential. Must be able to effectively analyze and solve problems and have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Provides counseling to prospective and enrolled students, conducts workshops, administers and interprets various career and personality inventories and assessments, provides intake and follow-up services to students with disabilities, and assists faculty with Early Alert students.
