The University of Southern Indiana’s Center for International Programs invites applications for the position of Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator will plan, coordinate, implement, and evaluate programs and activities for USI students as part of the Center for International Programs (CIP) to create opportunities for mutual cultural exchange. This position will assist with monitoring SEVIS compliance, and the development and execution of educational programs and events which support the University’s programs and internationalization initiatives. 

Essential functions include but are not limited to:
    • Develop campus and community events and activities
    • Create and develop the International Outreach Program 
    • Develop and implement the orientation program for new international students 
    • Develop and produce electronic newsletter/communication and social media for international students
    • Serve as Designated School Official (DSO for F-1 visas) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO for J-1 visas) and assist Director with SEVIS requirements and compliance of federal regulations 
    • Manage the immigration process post-admission and continue university yield efforts to recruit new students  



Essential Knowledge and Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree with two or more years of experience in immigration advising and program planning and implementation. May consider master’s level coursework in lieu of experience. Master’s degree with one year of experience in immigration advising and program planning and implementation strongly preferred. May consider significant related immigration experience. 
  • Familiarity with international cultures and fluency in a Spanish or other secondary language strongly preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in, update, and design workflows in various systems and databases used for retention and communications preferred. 
  • As required by federal regulations, to perform Designated School Official (DSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) functions, the incumbent must be either a citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with complex procedures and processes related to study abroad and international students.  Familiarity with immigration regulations pertaining to F and J visas, including SEVIS reporting requirements and knowledge of Department of Homeland Security regulations.
  • Experience in the development and presentation of workshops and programs. 
  • Possess understanding of the educational, cultural, social and recreational needs of the international students. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work as effective team member. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including cross-cultural communication competencies. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple demands in a setting of high student contact and interaction required; demonstrated skills in problem solving. 
  • Proficiency in using microcomputers, including word processing, spreadsheet, email software and internet resources.
  • Proven commitment to diverse perspectives, internationalization of institutional environments, and a strong career interest in the field of international education.
  • NAFSA affiliation.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
