Job Summary/Basic Function
Provide management for international student employment support and services. Advise international students on OPT, CPT, work authorizations, and assist the Primary Designated School Official. Serve as University Designated School Official and Alternate Responsible Officer for the US Department of Homeland Security and US Department of State.

Essential Functions and percent of time:
30% I-20 Issuance
Act as Designated Student Official issuing I-20s for admission purposes.
20% Optional Practical Training (OPT) Program Management Manage and monitor all aspects of OPT (Pre-completion and Post Completion Optical Practical
Training). Oversee the preparation of OPT applications submissions for F-1 students every semester. Using F-1 Visa regulations recommend OPT through US Customs and Immigration through the Department of Homeland Security. Advise students of OPT approval or denial. Approve work updates through SEVIS to OPT records every 6 months.
Track student EAD cards. Evaluate and monitor reports to identify upcoming graduating international students and advise them on graduation and OPT processes. Manage OPT STEM Extensions. Develop and Conduct OPT workshops. Monitor compliance with updated OPT regulations and evaluate application process. Create a CPT employer directory and share it with stakeholders at UCIE, Colleges and Career Services.
20% Curriculum Practical Training (CPT) Program Management Advise international students on Curricular Practical Training (CPT) regulations. Approve all work authorizations for internationals students for off campus employment, including internships and co-ops. Review and approve application materials to ensure compliance with F-1 visa regulations, Student Employment Policies and Faculty support is provided. Serve as liaison between Career Services and UCIE for co-ops and internships. Approve the work authorization in SEVIS Immigration system and work with employers to confirm work authorization. Develop and analyze CPT reports to support International Student Retention through employment opportunities. Develop and Conduct CPT workshops. Monitor compliance with updated CPT regulations and evaluate application process. Create an OPT employer directory and share it with stakeholders at UCIE, Colleges and Career Services.
10% Work Authorizations Advise international students on F-1 Visa Work Regulations. Approve all work authorization for international students for on and off campus employment. Review and approve Graduate Assistant contracts and Student Worker employment for all international students using F-1 visa regulations and working closely with Career Services and the School of Graduate Studies. Manage and Monitor reports for hours worked for international students in order to maintain F-1 Visa Work Regulations.
20% International Student and Scholar Services
Facilitate immigration processes by meeting with and providing information on regulations and responsibilities of students to comply with F-1 and J-1 visas immigration regulations. Provide open advising, on-line advising, and educational workshops with current students and recent graduates. Monitor and implement best practices in International Student and Scholar Services and recommend efficiencies.
Assist Associate Director of UCIE as needed with international student and scholar services. Serve on Sunapsis team with PDSO to develop ongoing policies and procedures for International Student Services at WSU. General instruction and regular review to staff, interns, student workers, and graduate assistants. Collaborate with other units including Career Services, Colleges, Raider Connect as necessary. Maintain knowledge of U.S. immigration regulations affecting F-1 international students and J-1 students and scholars.
Work with various stake holders at Wright Sate to resolve incidents or crises involving international students. Ensure quality of service by maintaining and reviewing metrics and statistics on services and clients served. Identify and implement internal business process or procedural improvements to continually improve operations. Assists with international student orientation, social and cultural activities for international students
•3-5 year of experience in higher education or with international students
•Excellent verbal/communication skills; exceptional customer service skills
•Knowledge and experience with different database
•Maintain a depth and breadth of knowledge to be able to interpret and comply with federal, university, and departmental policies to support F-1 and J-1 students and scholars in maintaining their legal immigration status
•Strong understanding of culture and educational systems in one or more major source countries for international students
•Sensitivity to and ability to operate in a cross-cultural setting, and ability to understand and interpret complex immigration matters
•The ability to think and act independently, multitask, and work to aggressive deadlines in fast-paced environment
•A person who has a positive and “CAN DO” attitude and can create a positive experience and a camaraderie culture with the team
•Previous experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) by the Department of Homeland, Security and Alternate Responsible Office (ARO) for the Department of State
•Knowledge of Banner, COGNOS and other complex immigration software packages
