Student Programs Coordinator

Applications are being accepted for a two-year limited position as Student Programs Coordinator for the Center’s Education Program. The Student Programs Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and organizing key areas of the Center’s fast growing Student Affiliate and Affiliate Scholar programs, helping to build, enrich and maintain a robust and positive intellectual, social, and professional development experience for students. The incumbent oversees the application competitions and selection processes; plans, organizes and oversees a variety of cultural activities and other student activities including orientation and closing ceremony programs; provides academic monitoring; administers award agreements ensuring compliance with Center policies; serves as a liaison with the housing office to ensure a positive residential experience; builds links within the organization and with the Honolulu community for internships, mentoring, and community service; and manages travel and conference grants. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree or equivalent. Plus one year of relevant experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position, including designing programs and activities to meet intellectual, social, cultural and professional development needs and objectives for dynamic groups in an educational or organizational setting. Must demonstrate effective leadership and team-building skills; highly effective interpersonal and intercultural communication skills both one-on-one and in large groups; and excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write and speak to culturally diverse audiences. Experience working both independently and collaboratively in successfully planning, organizing, coordinating, facilitating and evaluating large-scale events and activities that enhance cross cultural exchange. Fluency in English. Excellent computer proficiency and use of collaborative file-sharing, web and blog site and social media tools. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and work under the pressure of competing deadlines and demands; apply sound judgement in sensitive and difficult situations; and to work cooperatively with people of diverse cultural, professional, and social backgrounds. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with coordinating programs for university student life; providing mentoring and cultural support for U.S. and international graduate students; knowledge of and experience in Asia and/or the Pacific region; or background in the field of education. SALARY: $51,940.00 per year plus a cost-of-living allowance (COLA) currently at 10.99% (subject to change) and an attractive benefits package.
