The ASO I/II (Program Coordinator, Study Abroad) in the Study Abroad Office is responsible for the development and management of a portfolio of credit-bearing study abroad programs in multiple countries on both exchange, faculty-led, and select third-party provided programs. The Program Coordinator coordinates program design, budget development and monitoring, researches program vendor services and negotiates vendor contracts. The position is also responsible for student recruitment and advising, application review/processing, pre-departure orientations and meetings, and assisting in coordinating responses to study abroad health and safety matters. This position reports to the Associate Director, Study Abroad.
Manages a varied portfolio of study abroad programs in multiple countries. Works with faculty to develop and implement programs, coordinating closely with other key constituents to ensure academically robust programs that are student-friendly and in compliance with University policy and industry standards. Advises faculty on program proposal procedures, recruitment, outreach, application review, logistics, policies, budget and other finances, and emergency management.
Recruits, advises, selects and orients students with program portfolio. Provides visa processing support and coordination for programs. Manages student program participant needs, including student incidents while abroad; coordinates with University and on-site staff to provide timely and appropriate response to incidents; manages emergencies in collaboration with the Associate Director, Study Abroad.
Collaborates with faculty, academic advisors and related departmental staff to ensure academic integration of program content and to educate the University community about study abroad. Plans and executes marketing, social media campaigns and events. Organizes materials and staff coverage for several University events. Creates presentations and materials relevant to program portfolio including pre-departure orientations and materials, and classroom visits.
Develops work plans to accomplish program goals and objectives and monitors progress toward achievement. Coordinates periodic program evaluations and reviews on a set schedule; recommends off-cycle reviews as safety, security, or other emerging concerns warrant.
Serves as a resource, liaison, and point of expertise regarding study abroad programs and policies and respond to program-related inquiries from students, parents, and University faculty and staff.
Inputs and maintains the integrity of data in system for all assigned programs and participants. Provides office coverage as needed/necessary.

Bachelor's degree required for ASO I. Bachelor's degree in global studies, international affairs, political science, business or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Master's degree required for ASO II
Experience, (minimum 2 years of job-related experience) Two to five years' experience as a participant, organizer, or instructor in study abroad programs and/or living abroad; experience coordinating faculty-led programs and/or exchange programs. Experience in marketing product or programs within higher education Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to effectively and professionally communicate orally and in writing. Strong presentation skills High level of proficiency in a second language preferred. Ability to organize and prioritize efficiently and effectively. Interpersonal skills with the ability to work empathetically, effectively and professionally with a diverse population of students, parents, faculty and staff in the U.S. and abroad. Working knowledge of Terra Dotta Systems preferred.
Ability to travel abroad and within the United States as significant travel is required. Evening and weekend hours required.
