LdM, The Italian International Institute, enrolling students in U.S. accredited undergraduate and graduate level courses, invites applications for the position of Dean of Students. Based in Florence, Italy, the Dean of Students serves as a resource, advocate, and liaison for a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and community partners. This position works collaboratively with numerous institutional offices to foster a holistic learning environment that promotes student development, and intercultural understanding. Furthermore, the position requires an open-minded approach to problem solving and the flexibility to navigate the challenges of cross-cultural expectations and processes.
Aid in the implementation of new student orientation programming
Provide leadership and support for crisis response and student academic, personal, and well-being concerns
Oversee the institutional approval and administration of student accessibility and learning support services
Adjudicate community standards and student conduct cases
Promote the safety and security of community members through the monitoring of regional alerts and issuance of advisory notices
Serve as an institutional liaison regarding U.S. compliance inquiries (e.g., ADA, Clery Act, FERPA, Title IV, Title IX, etc.)
Represent the institution in various official capacities (e.g., OSAC meetings, U.S. Consul meetings, etc.)
Master’s or doctoral degree in higher education, student affairs, international education, counseling, or other relevant field of study
Proven record of success in international education and/or student affairs/services at a post-secondary educational institution
Understanding of U.S. higher education legislation (e.g., ADA, Clery Act, FERPA, Title IV, Title IX, etc.) and its applicability, particularly in the context of study abroad and/or a foreign institution
Superior critical-thinking, organizational, and oral and written communication skills, with the ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Experience living, working, or studying abroad
Proficiency in Italian language
