UW Bothell has an outstanding opportunity for a Director, Center for International EducationDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Manages International Student Services staff in designing transition and support structures and programs to help ensure the success of international students enrolling at UW Bothell. Collaborates with director of admissions and international recruiter/advisor in building and monitoring recruitment, yield, and support strategies to ensure the University international student enrollment targets are successfully met. Builds and maintains the image and profile of the University. Meets the University priorities for the 21st Century: Growth, Diversity, Student-Centered, and Innovation. This position reports to the AVCEM and will maintain close collaborations with the Registrar and the Dean of Student Affairs.Operations Oversee institutional compliance with all federal and state immigration regulations. Responsible to file all required reports with Homeland Security and other federal and state agencies Oversee the issuance of I-20s for all new and returning undergraduate, graduate, and OPT students requiring F-1 visas. Oversee status and academic progress quarterly for all UW Bothell undergraduate, graduate and OPT students on F-1 visas. Advise and counsel current UW Bothell international students about immigration issues, employment issues, travel, housing, and other applicable issues. Individually and in collaboration with other units, provide orientation and support activities that address the specific needs of international students. Serve as an advocate for the needs and welfare of international students. Oversee the maintenance and advancement of the International website pages, social media channels, and publications for current international students. Identify and create new support services to promote the success of international students at UW Bothell. Manage the ISS unit budget.SupervisionSupervise and mentor the International Student Services team. This includes but is not limited to: Plan, assign, and direct work of subordinates; appraise work performances; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems; provide guidance; work with team members and the director of admissions to develop strategic recruitment plans for key audiences that the university wants to grow. Create accountabilities and take responsibility for the development and growth of each team member. Outreach and Advice Collaborate with the director of admissions and AVCEM with design and implementation of outreach and recruitment plans to ensure enrollment of targeted number of international students. Organize and present at high school and community college information fairs, and group sessions. Provide advice on U.S. immigration regulations and policies to students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Build and maintain relationships with international advisors and programs likely to refer international students to UW Bothell. Contribute to providing a vision for the continuing growth of international student enrollment and to structures leading to their successful, positive experience at UW Bothell. Represent the ISS unit and the international student perspectives on appropriate campus committees. Collaborate with the Office of Global Initiatives in advancing the internationalization of UW Bothell.Other duties as assignedREQUIREMENTS Bachelor's Degree in Business, Education, International Studies, Counseling, or related field. Three years of relevant work experience in International Admissions/Services or applicable higher education positions. Supervisory/management experience. Writing text for web, marketing, and publications. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Very strong computer and software skills including Microsoft Office. Ability to work in an idea-driven, fast-paced environment. Strong work ethic. Ability to work with a diverse constituency.DESIRED Experience with the SEVIS database. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and policies related to student records, information systems, admissions, and registration. Documented experience communicating with international populations in an educational setting.CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENTThis position requires flexible work schedule and the ability to work some evenings and/or weekends. This position requires working in an office setting along with the possibility of some in-state, out-of-state, or international travel.
