Budget Title: Admissions Advisor (SL-3)
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience
Binghamton University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of International Admissions Counselor to support undergraduate admissions through identifying, selecting, and enrolling students from an assigned geographic territory. The candidate must work well in a team and demonstrate good communication skills and enthusiasm to represent the university to prospective students, their families, school counselors, university partners, alumni, and fellow recruitment colleagues.
Major job responsibilities:
Manage data and recruitment activities within an assigned geographic market(s)/region(s)
Arrange high school visits, college fairs, recruitment activities/events, provide communication/outreach activities, and present to students virtually and in person
Develop relationships with students to advise them throughout the recruitment cycle in conjunction with the university's goal of attracting and retaining academically talented and diverse students
Develop and implement innovative recruitment strategies to increase international enrollment among Binghamton's student population
Develop relationships and strong rapport with school counselors, parents, students, and alumni
Guide international students through the application process
Develop and maintain a repository of data including contracts and communications within assigned territories
Create, implement, and fine-tune an effective communication and recruitment plan in conjunction with the office-wide admissions strategy
Develop and maintain a territorial travel plans utilizing data for recruitment
Continue to foster established relationships and represent Binghamton University with new colleagues
Review application documents through a holistic reading process and make recommendations
Counsel current and prospective students and families regarding educational opportunities
Build and maintain territory-specific queries utilizing our CRM
Support all ongoing recruitment initiatives for undergraduate admissions, including such things as meeting with students information sessions, open houses, receptions, application reading, responding to student questions, and high school visits
Bachelors degree (or higher)
Passion for assisting international students
Strong customer service and rapport building skills
Demonstrated public speaking ability
Ability to travel internationally
Ability to sustain a flexible work schedule such as working nights and weekends as required
Experience working and communicating with diverse populations
Valid/clean driver's license to operate a motor vehicle and a valid passport for international travel
Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift a 20 lb suitcase from time to time with our without accommodation
Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
1-3 years prior experience in admissions, enrollment, student recruitment, or higher education
Ability to fluently speak/read Mandarin
Experience in marketing
Experience leveraging social media
Demonstrated analytical and creative problem solving skills
Experience with higher education admissions CRM such as Slate or comprehensive student information system such as Banner
