Reports To: Director, Admission and Services for International Students
The international admissions counselor is responsible for the coordination of external and internal recruitment activities at the undergraduate and graduate level. This position coordinates the admissions process and serves as the point of contact for all incoming international students. The international admissions counselor will also serve as a Designated School Official and assist with oversight of the immigration documentation process.
Works with various reports to ensure students are being serviced throughout the admissions cycle from inquiry through add/drop
Reviews completed student files and makes admission decisions
Works closely with athletics compliance offices for all incoming student athletes
Attends international student recruitment events
Assists the Primary Designated School Official with the execution of different U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and Department of Homeland Security procedures
Determines and awards merit scholarships to incoming international students
Assists with math and English placement exams
Required Qualifications – Required qualifications to effectively perform the job. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. (Additional requirements may be designated by position.)
Bachelor’s degree is required
Must have 2-3 years of experience in international recruiting or international student services
Must be a US citizen or permanent resident to meet qualifications as a Designated School Official
Must have a valid driver’s license
Master’s degree is preferred
Experience working with The Student and Exchange Visitor Information System preferred
Experience with immigration regulations and documents preferred
