ABOUT THE POSITION
Located in Syracuse, NY, the Director of Admissions and Student Engagement is an integral member of our growing Syracuse Abroad executive team - a highly collaborative organizational structure. As the leader of admissions processes and student services, the position plays a key role in growing and strengthening processes alongside already emphasized student support and high quality programming. This position reports to the Assistant Provost/Executive Director of Syracuse Abroad and is supported by three mid-level management positions in the areas of study abroad admissions and predeparture, student support and services (including health and safety), and campus engagement/recruitment. This will be a great fit for someone with 8+ years of experience, especially as it relates to working in a university setting, working with university students, and/or direct international education experience.
Oversight of Syracuse Abroad admissions unit: develops annual strategic plan for the Admissions team; collaborates with the Assistant Provost and Executive Director and the Director of Strategic Partnerships of Syracuse Abroad to set annual and long-term targets for admissions, enrollment, and retention. Manages existing admissions and enrollment processes to support efficient and student-friendly provision of services consistent with a high quality Syracuse student experience and considering changing standards of the international education field. Responsible for ongoing business optimization and communications related to OrangeAbroad (Terra Dotta) users.
Oversight of the health and student services/support in cooperation with other campus units (e.g., the Offices of Global Safety, Disability Services, Counseling Services, Equal Opportunity, Inclusion and Resolution, Student Rights and Responsibilities, Student Assistance, Multicultural Affairs, Student Success, the HEOP Program, the LGBTQ Resource Center, etc.). Coordinate health and non-academic student support policies, procedures, and services for Syracuse Abroad Centers: update Syracuse Abroad health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with University-wide policies and relevant federal/local regulations, and ensures adherence to these policies.
Create pipeline of current campus students that lead to inquiries, engagements, applications, and enrolled students - all while improving the overall engagement in the Study Abroad program. Foster close working relationships with the Syracuse Abroad staff, students, alumni, Syracuse offices and operations, and professional organizations/networks as appropriate. Work collaboratively with recruitment efforts to set and achieve recruitment goals through these connections. Develop and maintain strong ties to campus schools and colleges to broaden visibility of Syracuse Abroad.

Syracuse Abroad is one of the larger education abroad programs among doctoral-granting universities in the country, and Syracuse University is in a period of exciting and ambitious transformation for all things internationalization. Syracuse is currently ranked #5 in the IIE Open Doors for student participation on mid-length (i.e. semester/quarter) study abroad programs. We operate seven Syracuse study abroad centers, currently in Asia, the EU, and South America - some running for as long as 60 years.
