The chief purpose of this position is to provide overall leadership and direction for the international education abroad initiatives sponsored by the university, including programmatic and operational planning, fiscal and budget management, personnel management; ensuring efficient operation for our international education mission; understanding and ensuring compliance with all regulations that pertain to education abroad, partnerships, risk and safety and developing international collaborations and programs.
Leadership: Work with faculty, deans, and administrators to invigorate and expand our education abroad programs and opportunities. The Director is expected to serve as an advocate for Education Abroad on campus and be able to lead the office in strategic planning and policy development for Education Abroad. Administration and Supervision: Perform administrative functions, including fiscal management, budgeting, strategic planning, goal setting, assessment and periodic reporting, as well as process analysis, quality control, and program evaluation for our International Education initiatives. Set annual professional goals and engage OIE staff in continual professional development activities. -Provide leadership, mentoring and direction to staff accountable for Education Abroad, international partnerships, and risk and safety. Perform personnel functions for departmental staff, including hiring, coaching, directing and appraising. Committees, Partnerships and Collaborations: Seek out partnerships and negotiate articulation agreements as appropriate. Work with UT Dallas as liaison to UT System on international education agenda, including oversight of risk management for faculty/staff/students traveling abroad and international students studying at UT Dallas. Serve on relevant committees and boards and coordinate both external and internal partnerships to advance international initiatives. Other: Perform other related duties and responsibilities as required. Willingness to work evenings and weekends and travel internationally.

Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related progressive experience.
Preferred Education and Experience: Master’s Degree and 10 plus year experience in Study Abroad and International Partnerships
