Directs the Office for International and Summer Programs, a unit of Emory College of Arts and Sciences.
Manages the hiring and supervision of six direct reports, an office of over twenty staff members, and four operational teams.
Direct reports include the directors of study abroad and summer programs, business manager, and financial analyst.
Sets policies and oversees their implementation.
Approves and manages strategic program development.
Resolves conflicts and assesses organizational structure of teams and workflow demands to enhance effectiveness and create synergy across programs.
Responsible for overall management of annual budgets exceeding $9M.
Oversees and works closely with financial team to manage multiple budgets for summer programs (including online and precollege programs) and study abroad.
Has executive oversight of budgets of two Emory semester study abroad programs, EDUCO and Emory in Spain.
Has signature authority of $50,000 and approves spending from Santander bank account.
Works with financial analyst to generate financial forecasts for new program development.
Rotates complete financial responsibility for EDUCO with other three consortia universities.
Collaborates with faculty to create new academic programs, with a primary focus on summer.
Works closely with director of study abroad to facilitate faculty led summer study abroad programs.
Oversees curriculum coordination and compliance with all academic policies of Emory College.
Meets regularly with senior administration of the office of undergraduate education to ensure seamless student experience.
Ex officio member of faculty education abroad committee, and the curriculum, educational policy, and assessment committee of the college.
Builds relationships and works with offices of campus life, residential life, and other stakeholders to enhance student co-curricular activities.
Serves as advisor of record for all incoming exchange students.
Regularly advises Dean on study abroad risk management, reports issues relating to faculty performance and student health and safety as needed.
Member of university committee on emergency preparedness and risk (CEPAR).
Works closely with director of study abroad to manage emergency situations abroad.
Responsible for strategic development of new summer and study abroad programs, seeks new revenue sources, directs staff in program development to enhance student academic opportunities in both domestic summer programs and in study abroad throughout the year.
Promotes academic excellence and student success in all programs.
Writes reports and makes presentations on programs to administration and faculty as requested.
Takes on new projects as assigned by Dean. Oversight of Emory College Online - works with director of online course development and faculty.
Conducts outreach to faculty to develop new pedagogical opportunities (Maymester, online, global internships).
Evaluates budget and technology needs of program.
Ensures Emory College Online continues to meet highest standards of online education while continuing to evolve structure of program.
Works closely with the director of summer programs on pre-college initiatives, including both credit bearing and non-credit summer programming for high school students.
Approves outreach initiatives for recruiting both international and domestic scholarship students to Emory pre-college programming.
Develops new curricular directions for pre-college program to meet current student interest.
Maintains collaborative relationships with other offices including Admissions, Residence Life, Student Health, and Academic Support Services.
Travels regularly to conduct study abroad site visits and to ensure compliance with best practices for international education on all our study abroad programs; seeks new study abroad opportunities consistent with academic standards of Emory College.
Attends relevant conferences for both summer programs and study abroad.
Represents Emory College at mandatory annual meetings of both summer and study abroad organizations, serves as Emory official for EDUCI, the Kyoto consortium, and Emory in Spain, serves on search committees and other key committees related to these organizations.
Reports to the Dean of Emory College of Arts and Sciences and serves as member of College’s Academic Leadership Team.
Performs other duties as required.
A master's degree and seven years of experience with progressive responsibility in academic administration, budgeting, and program development at the university level.
Teaching experience in a liberal arts classroom is desirable.
Experience working with international students is desirable.
A PhD is preferred.
