Assistant/Associate Director of Education Abroad (Updated Posting) under the leadership and direction of the Director of Education Abroad, to be primarily responsible for overseeing the Miami University portfolio of customized academic travel programs.
Duties: Manage a portfolio of customized academic travel programs in collaboration with the Global Programs Coordinator, Budget Analyst and others; consult with program directors to develop and implement programs and associated budgets in compliance with university policies and procedures; collaborate with providers and partners to research and coordinate site logistics; advise and consult with program directors and Global Learning Coordinator on program proposals, recruitment, application review, pre-departure orientation, logistics, and financial management of programs; support program director preparation in the areas of risk management and crisis response; support development of study abroad orientation presentations and materials; advise students and answer inquiries regarding complex issues related to admission and enrollment in faculty-led study abroad programs; use Terra Dotta – StudioAbroad system to execute all aspects of program and data management; coordinate, develop and deliver regular data and analysis regarding faculty-led programs; develop and conduct student evaluations. Analyze and assess success and communicate these results to Education Abroad and Global Initiatives administrators; support the Director of Education Abroad in handling risk management cases involving customized academic travel programs; serve as a resource for faculty and staff and as a liaison to academic and administrative units regarding study abroad programs, policies, and procedures; supervise Education Abroad staff and students as needed; other duties as assigned; may act on behalf of the Director as needed.

Require: For appointment as Assistant Director: Master’s degree; five years of experience in education abroad (experience can be gained during a degree program); demonstrated ability to manage complex and multiple tasks with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment, including follow-up and attention to detail; program planning experience. Additional qualifications for appointment as Associate Director: seven years of experience in education abroad (experience can be gained during a degree program); data development and management experience (experience can be gained concurrently). Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a lawful permanent resident, admitted for residence as an applicant under the 1986 immigration amnesty law, refugee or asylee.
Desire: Forum on Education Abroad Professional Certification in Education Abroad; proficiency in second language; experience with Terra Dotta Studio Abroad; experience living or studying abroad.
