This position serves as the Study Abroad Advisor for programs in East Europe, Scandinavia, Middle East and Africa. Position duties include advising UNC and non-UNC students on study abroad program options and academic requirements related to study abroad programs; assisting students with and reviewing study abroad applications; conducting study abroad orientations and presenting at outreach events; and special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required for success in this position. Demonstrated skill in multi-tasking in a high-traffic office is essential, as is experience with working independently as well as with a team. Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office programs is also critical. A high level of accuracy is also necessary.
The department has a preference for a candidate with: experience living, working, or studying in one or more of the European countries associated with this position. Fluency or proficiency in German, Italian, Russian or Arabic is highly desirable. Experience in advising students in a higher education setting is also highly preferred, as is a willingness to travel internationally. A Master's degree is also preferred. Experience with TerraDotta and Peoplesoft is also highly preferred.
