The Suffolk University Madrid Campus (SUMC) is a critical component of Suffolk University's global identity and is a key differentiator in the higher education market. The Madrid Campus Program Manager (MCPM) provides comprehensive advising and administrative support to all Suffolk Madrid stakeholders (students, parents, faculty, staff, and existing and prospective institutional partners). In addition to Suffolk Madrid, the MCPM manages a portfolio of education abroad programs including semester and summer study abroad, short-term faculty-led, and exchange.
Program Advising and Enrollment Management: Provides comprehensive support and individualized guidance to students (Suffolk and non-Suffolk alike) before, during, and after the education abroad experience.
Manages and advises for all Madrid-based education abroad programs (first-year, study abroad, summer, faculty-led, exchange, full degree, Global Gateway, etc.); oversees a small, TBD portfolio of non-Madrid semester program options; works proactively to connect students to embedded experiential learning opportunities, such as internships and academic community engagement.
Liaises regularly with all Madrid personnel to effectively support students and to ensure the seamless communication of programs and policies between campuses; works collaboratively with Boston and Madrid staff to develop and implement new programmatic offerings.
Guides internal and external students through the application process, managing the application system on the back end; actively seeks ways to improve the user experience, tracks student application processes, and reaches out as needed / appropriate.
Manages all pre and post enrollment procedures, including the student visa process and pre-departure orientation; assesses the effectiveness of established procedures and, in consultation with the Director, makes changes as needed.
Connects students to funding opportunities, including external scholarships.
Program Marketing and Promotion: Actively promotes the SUMC suite of program offerings to students and faculty.
Plays a key role in the promotion of education abroad, specifically Madrid programs, as an integral component of a Suffolk degree; actively works to demystify / eliminate (for students, faculty, and administrators) the cost, curricular, and cultural barriers to education abroad participation.
Recruits for and markets SUMC to internal and external stakeholders using a wide variety of traditional and digital tools; coordinates with administrative units, including, but not limited to, Information Technology Services, Admissions, the Office of Marketing Communications; creates, implements, and continuously improves web content, pre-departure literature, and online application/registration procedures for all Madrid programs.
In concert with the Director, works closely with academic departments to promote Madrid programs; actively seeks feedback from faculty, identifies academic / programmatic needs and opportunities for majors that might be fulfilled in Madrid, and helps facilitate the development, promotion, and academic integration of these experiences.
Conducts regular information sessions for SUMC and coordinates special events to highlight programs and outcomes associated with participation in
Manages and curates the Center's social media footprint, with a special eye toward promoting Madrid; oversees the work of 1-2 student workers / grad fellows.
External Relations: Cultivates and maintains positive working relationships with SUMC's external partners.
Seeks out new study abroad and exchange partners for SUMC, coordinating meetings and class visits, attending fairs, and hosting information sessions and pre-departure orientations as needed; represents SUMC at conferences, when needed.
Ensures that partners stay abreast of new programs and initiatives coming out of SUMC; facilitates the continuous improvement of program offerings by relaying feedback to SUMC staff and connects partner advisors to local staff as requested; prepares surveys / assessments for partners and evaluates results.
In close collaboration with SUMC staff, coordinates site / familiarization for partner advisors, faculty, and administrators.
Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in International Education, Higher Education, International Relations, Cultural Studies, or related field preferred.
Professional experience: 2-4 years, preferred

Previous study, work, and / or service abroad strongly preferred
