The Study Abroad Partnerships Coordinator will work with the Director of Study Abroad to further develop, consolidate and systematize connections to other Lasallian institutions around the world in accordance with the mission of the college. There is a particular interest in expanding ties to the Lasallian presence in the Global South. The Coordinator will be an integral member of the study abroad team, working with the campus community to strengthen and expand Manhattan College’s relationships with other Lasallian institutions and institutional partnerships, including new sites that can enhance the existing study abroad program. This position to start on March 1, 2020.
Section II: Responsibilities
Support all exchange students including those incoming and outgoing on the One LaSalle mobility agreement, bilateral study abroad exchanges and other MOU’s.
Ensure a smooth process for all students, processing transcripts and coordinating communications with exchange institutions, students, and campus departments including student financial services, registrar, residence life, and international student services office.
Serve as an ongoing advisor for incoming exchange students, working to connect them with campus student resources including tutoring, academic support, and student engagement.
Support outgoing exchange students while abroad through periodic contact and follow-up with counterparts in affiliated institutions.
Work with the Study Abroad Director to investigate, develop and coordinate partnerships with Lasallian institutions.
Work with MC faculty to encourage use of Lasallian network institutions in the development of courses.
Work with the office of study abroad to facilitate housing, meals, learning spaces, travel, and other logistics for study abroad courses, especially at Lasallian institutions.
Serve as liaison to the Office of the VP of Mission to develop sustainable faculty development programs and activities and to encourage partnerships and collaborations among faculty of Lasallian and other international institutions. Manage details and logistics for faculty collaborations with other Lasallian institutions, including exploratory travel, research/scholarly partnerships, study abroad partnerships, and other programs and activities.
Serve as Study Abroad Office liaison to MC Campus Ministry and Social Action which sponsors Lasallian Outreach Volunteer Experience (L.O.V.E.) service trips in collaborative efforts to develop possibilities for additional student engagement and service learning opportunities at sites abroad.
Assist the Director of Study Abroad in the development, evaluation and renewal of Memorandum of Understanding contracts with partner institutions.
Assist the Assistant Director of Study Abroad in assessment and the systematic collection of data regarding all exchange program activity.
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or equivalent academic degree preferred.
Prior work experience or familiarity with international student exchange and college-level study abroad programs.
Prior work experience or close familiarity with the Catholic Lasallian world at the level of higher education is strongly preferred.
Foreign language competence is highly desirable, including Portuguese, Spanish, or French
