The Senior Associate Director assists the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Global Engagement in the leadership and oversight for the team which manages Columbia-Led programs and advises students, primarily undergraduates, enrolled in these global educational experiences.
Advising and Program Management (45%)
Provide a full-range of information, advising, and support to applicants and students, from Columbia and non-Columbia schools, for Columbia- Led programs including but not limited to admissions criteria, academic program offerings and credit transfer, housing and cultural adjustment, finance and scholarships, visas, safety and student wellness, and accommodation requests as needed.
Organize information sessions and do targeted outreach throughout the year to promote Columbia global engagement opportunities for internal and external audiences. Attend student fairs on campus and at partner schools.
Evaluate and recommend applicants for admission to Columbia programs, including reading and evaluating applications and requesting follow up information when required or prepare dossiers for faculty review.
Organize and conduct pre-departure and re-entry meetings for students.
Work with relevant parties to resolve student issues during all phases of participation including predeparture, while abroad, and upon return.
Participate in the support of and response to health, safety, and risk management issues that may arise with individual students or that may affect a program.
Coordinate with the program directors to manage all aspects of the programs including but not limited to updating student materials, marketing programs, recruiting students, updating program budgets, developing partner agreements, and preparing students for their time abroad.
Support faculty and program directors to prepare for their time abroad.
Provide regional and logistical expertise to faculty and program directors for ongoing program assessment, development, and planning. Continually assess programs to assure top quality opportunities that meet enrollment and financial targets.
Manage relevant program consortium boards or faculty committees including ongoing communications, follow up, and board/committee meeting planning and preparations.
Travel to Columbia program sites and partner programs to cultivate working relationships, monitor program offerings, and identify new opportunities.
Process and Policy Development (45%)
Lead and manage team initiatives to develop procedures and policies for outreach and recruitment, admissions and enrollment management, and student advising in coordination with the relevant administrative offices.
Act as point person for integration of outreach, admissions, and advising with the student systems.
Create standard templates for program websites and student materials.
Evaluate student materials, policies, and procedures annually to assure effectiveness and compliance.
Develop creative ways to prepare and support students for a global experience and return to campus.
Collaborate with Business Operations Specialist to assure seamless registration and billing for students.
Collaboration and Teamwork (10%)
Represent UGE to internal and external constituents for ongoing and new program development opportunities.
Contribute to the planning and development of new undergraduate global experiences including the support of fundraising initiatives.
Participate in working groups and committees relevant to the mission of UGE and the College.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree and/or its equivalent required.
A minimum of three to five years related experience required.
Excellent writing and speaking skills required.

Master’s degree strongly preferred.
Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills; working knowledge of Microsoft and Google Office Suites; the capacity to learn Studio Abroad, SIS applications, and web content management systems; familiarity with liberal arts college curricula.
Demonstrated ability to work with a minimum of day-to-day supervision.
Knowledge of another languages and cultures strongly preferred.
