The International Student & Scholar Coordinator (ISSC) is seeking a conscientious and motivated individual to join our student-centered, team-oriented workgroup. This full-time hourly position works within International Student and Scholar Services, serving in multiple dynamic capacities, from issuing initial immigration forms for international students and scholars, to providing support, maintenance, and advice for the immigration form request process. In addition, this role provides a crucial point of contact between ISSS and various campus stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students. Finally, this position supports the office with making purchases, event scheduling, calendar and website updates, and backing up the OIE front desk as a shared responsibility. Given the multiple ways this position contributes to various stakeholders both internally and externally, this role is suited for those eager to either refine their various skillsets or add new ones. This position will supervise one administrative student assistant.
Advise international students and scholars and issue I-20 and DS-2019 immigration forms.
Maintain the e-form request process, estimated living expenses calculator and training.
Review and process international student and scholar e-form requests, identify eligibility based on immigration regulations, institutional policies and individual circumstances. Make decisions and authorize benefits as appropriate.
Review and process international student and scholar requests and monitor alerts in SEVIS related to initial entry and check-in.
Determine eligibility and take appropriate action on SSN, ITIN, travel signature requests, new student check-in review, placing and removing registration holds.
Assist SEVIS Coordinator with database audits.
Provide administrative support for the unit by making purchases, calendar and website updates, and backing up the OIE front desk as a shared responsibility.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Degrees required for this job: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Years of experience required for this job: Two to three years job related experience
Specialized skills required for this job: Proficiency using MS Office suite. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external audiences. Flexibility and strong problem-solving skills.
