The Office of Education Abroad seeks an intern to assist and complement in the day-to-day operations of this dynamic and distinct department. The intern will primarily support the Harlaxton team throughout all aspects of the admissions process for the program, though there will be opportunities to work with the overall goals of study abroad growth and development at the university as well. The position will include opportunities for research and projects that would be compatible with the thesis requirements of a Master’s student. This is a full time, 10 month position that will include compensation of a stipend and housing included.
Key responsibilities of this position will include the monitoring and processing of Harlaxton applications, working with the orientation and preparation of Harlaxton outgoing students, participating in fairs and admissions events for Harlaxton and the University of Evansville, collaborating with departments across campus on integrating all aspects of study abroad with the university as a whole, working with Harlaxton returnees, and continually working with the office on various projects to improve the student experience.
The University of Evansville, a small, private institution located in southwest Indiana, has a strong commitment to creating international opportunities for students. Of the around 2000 student population, around 10% is made up of international students, and around half goes abroad during their academic career at the university. In addition, the university owns and operates Harlaxton College, a study abroad center located in Grantham, England, which hosts around 400 students each year from Evansville and universities across the US. Thus the Office of Education Abroad occupies a unique space in the world of international education, as it operates as a study abroad office that works with faculty-led and provider programs and as a program provider itself running the admissions side of Harlaxton College.
This internship requires the minimum of a Bachelor’s degree, master’s level experience and education preferred. An ideal candidate would have studied abroad, had experience in the UK, have good attention to detail, good customer service, and be able to work in a fast paced environment. The position is perfect for an individual wishing to work in Education Abroad or higher education.
Additional Salary Information: This is a full time, 10 month position that will include compensation of a stipend and housing included.
About University of Evansville
For over forty years, the students and faculty of the University of Evansville have had a second home in the United Kingdom, at Harlaxton College.
Imagine studying in a 100-room Victorian manor house in the rolling English countryside one hour north of London. At Harlaxton College, the British campus of the University of Evansville, you will do just that! And you'll share the manor with a community of committed faculty, supportive staff, and fellow students from UE and our partner colleges. Your family from home may join you for a few days' visit if they are able; you'll also have the opportunity to make new family ties with members of the local community in Grantham who share in the Harlaxton experience each semester.
