Advises students considering study or internship abroad and assists them in finding a program that meets their academic, financial, and personal needs. Provides students with application information and assists with application process. Reviews applications, approves students for study abroad, and sends applications to foreign institutions and program providers. Develops program budgets sheets. Works with faculty advisers to assist students in gaining course credit approval. Provides advising services to students when issues arise before, during, and after study abroad. Communicates with host institutions and program providers. Presents study/intern abroad opportunities to classes, residence halls, and other student groups; presents to new students at CMU orientations. Assists with preparation and presentation of pre-departure orientation. Ensures that invoices are received for students’ program fees and that the student’s CMU accounts are properly charged. Evaluates foreign transcripts; reports course credits and grades from host institution to the Registrar’s Office. Manages a portfolio of study/internship programs. Promotes study/internship programs across campus; participates in planning and delivery of the Study Abroad Fair and other office events. Participates in updating study abroad website and managing Terra Dotta software updates. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree. Experience studying, working, or living abroad. Ability to use initiative, independent judgment, tact and diplomacy. Administrative, organizational, and problem solving skills, including attention to detail. Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing demands and priorities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Excellent writing skills. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Master’s degree. One years of experience working in a study abroad office. Outreach and promotion experience. Terra Dotta software experience. Ability to speak a foreign language.
