Global Living and Learning Programs Advisor (GLLPA) - Office of Global Education (OGE)
The Global Living and Learning Programs Advisor (GLLPA) advises student participants in an assigned portfolio of programs, including the undergraduate living and learning programs at Villa Le Balze (VLB) in the fall, spring, and summer terms, and provides support to members of the Office of Global Education (OGE) and Villa Le Balze related to the development and administration of those programs. The GLLPA supports the broader work of the Office of Global Education and Global Living and Learning Programs team by developing and carrying out sophisticated marketing and recruitment strategies for Villa Le Balze undergraduate programs, assisting in the development and evaluation of new programs and curricular initiatives, and developing materials to train faculty who teach there. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Global Living and Learning Programs, the GLLPA has duties that include but are not limited to:
Academic Advising and Program Management
Prepare students to be successful abroad through a comprehensive advising process which includes intake, program selection, application and placement, pre-departure orientation, and support while abroad and upon return.
Manage student incidents and emergencies abroad; work with students and onsite staff to resolve low-level incidents and emergencies; collaborate with ADGLLP to respond to higher-level emergencies; defer highest-level emergencies to ADGLLP and Director of Global Education.
Collaborate with OGE and Villa Le Balze staff and faculty/program directors on the development and delivery of student programming, including interest meetings, orientations and reentry programs.
Work collaboratively with Villa Le Balze staff and faculty/program directors to finalize program details, including budget preparation and management, communication with vendors for program services, and other logistical details related to administration and compliance for an assigned portfolio of programs.
Respond to general inquiries from students, parents, faculty members, campus partners, outside study abroad professionals and stakeholders about OGE's faculty-led programs and initiatives.
Marketing, Outreach, and Recruitment
Work closely with the Assistant Director of Global Living and Learning Programs, Villa Le Balze staff, and individual faculty/program directors to determine program recruitment goals and marketing strategies.
Collaborate with Application and Outreach Coordinator and faculty/program directors to develop and maintain digital and print marketing materials for new and existing programs, including website content, program brochures, event posters, and program advising sheets (etc.) focused on an assigned portfolio of programs.
Collaborate with Application and Outreach Coordinator and faculty/program directors (when appropriate) to facilitate student-focused outreach activities and events, including, but not limited to, information sessions, classroom visits, study abroad fairs (etc.) focused on an assigned portfolio of programs.
Develop and maintain relations with institutions to facilitate the recruitment and enrollment of non-Georgetown student participants in Villa Le Balze programs.
Financial and Business Administration
Assist in the development, preparation, and management of program budgets for an assigned portfolio of programs.
Review receipts and expense reports for program administrators and work with the Associate Director of Finance and Business to submit final budget reconciliation documents.
Program Development and Evaluation
Work closely with the Assistant Director of Global Living and Learning Programs and Villa Le Balze faculty/program directors on the conception, development, and evaluation of an assigned portfolio of programs, including the undergraduate living and learning programs at Villa Le Balze.
Coordinate program evaluations/reviews cycle and evaluate outcome assessments including conducting interviews with GU participants and overseas faculty, discussing program adjustments with faculty directors and host-university staff, and working with the Assistant Director for Global Living and Learning Programs to recommend program improvements.
Representation and Professional Development
Represent OGE in on-campus forums, as well as represent Georgetown University and OGE in national and international forums, as assigned by the Assistant Director Global Living and Learning Programs and the Director of Global Education.
Participate in relevant professional development opportunities with the goal of developing new skills and knowledge, which will help the office achieve its goals and objectives.
A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree in international education, higher education administration, student development, or a related field is preferred.
A minimum of 2 years of significant experience in education abroad advising and program management, higher education administration, or a related field is required.
Experience studying and/or working overseas.
Must possess strong organizational and planning skills, demonstrate exceptional verbal and communication skills, and proven ability to complete multiple, complex tasks, sometimes under pressure of deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty and campus administrators.
Experience with budget management and expense accounting.
Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Familiarity with the latest trends and best practices in education abroad program models.
Familiarity with student development, student affairs, or intercultural development theory is preferred.
Proficiency in related foreign language is preferred
