The College of Arts and Sciences (ASC) seeks an Education Abroad Specialist to join our team. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The Education Abroad Specialist is an integral part of the College's and the University's international operation and has duties related to both the College and the Office of International Affairs (OIA). The position reports jointly to the Assistant Dean and Director for Global Education for the College and the Associate Director for Education Abroad in OIA.
The Education Abroad Specialist supports students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders of ASC and OIA seeking to enable the strategic growth and management of international education across the university, as well as enabling education opportunities by developing and administering a portfolio of programs including faculty-led and provider/direct enrollment. The Specialist assists the Assistant Dean for International Initiatives in developing new programs, reauthorizing existing programs, meeting with faculty and staff, and recruiting diverse students to participate in education abroad with Arts and Sciences. Coordinates complete and multiple programmatic, logistical and fiscal arrangements with host institutions, faculty resident directions, students and education abroad providers. Develops pre-departure resources and provides orientation for outgoing students, faculty residents directors and other University personnel according to OIA established practices. Monitors and evaluates assigned programs in consultation with relevant faculty and academic units. Responds to urgent situations and emergencies outside of working hours in accordance with established protocols by Ohio State and International Affairs. Researches professional standards in field of education abroad and implements best practices in program management and development. Develops office resources and delivers outreach activities to diverse audiences including student organizations and residence halls. Advises students, faculty and academic advisors on international academic opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree. Experience in program/project planning and administration. Strong written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills. Ability to communicate cross culturally. Ability to multi-task with attention to detail; proficient with Microsoft Office suite.
Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience; experience studying or living abroad; familiarity with information and procedures required for international travel, experience working with faculty.
Target Salary: $22.00 - $23.42 Hourly
