Essential Job Duties:
Program Management Responsibilities:
Work with professional staff as a team to manage a subset of programs, including faculty-led group programs of various lengths, non-exchange semester-length programs, and exchange programs.
Manage student exchange agreements and serve as the lead contact for NC State study abroad programs in a designated geographic region (currently the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, Austria, and Germany). This includes facilitating renewals, initiating new agreements, and maintaining a balance of enrollment numbers.
Research programs and communicate with colleagues at partner institutions and international education organizations in the United States and abroad regarding academic opportunities, costs, housing options, support services, and exchange agreements. As well as, serve as advisor for participants from the nomination process through re-entry.
Coordinate and administer designated NC State group programs (currently faculty-led programs within the College of Engineering and the Poole College of Management), including: oversight of program budgets; marketing materials; emergency procedures; adherence to University and Office policies; and, in collaboration with faculty and overall program personnel.
Collaborate with the Director, Associate Director, and Assistant Directors in developing and implementing new programs and other projects and initiatives, as needed.
Work closely and maintain appropriate relationships with faculty, academic advisers, and other campus partners throughout the university.
This position will coordinate Study Abroad Office scholarship applications, including managing the application process; coordinating the reader process; promoting scholarship opportunities and highlighting recipients to increase awareness; and coordinating and presenting funding information sessions.
Work with Assistant Director to support scholarship committee reviews, distribute awards, and ensure recipients fulfill scholarship requirements.
Assist with the planning and implementation of special events for scholarship recipients. Liaise with the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid and other campus partners to support the scholarship process.
In conjunction with other Study Abroad Office staff, assist with pre-departure orientation programs for outgoing and incoming students, trainings for program faculty directors and personnel, and other office-wide events.
Represent NC State and the Study Abroad Office at state, regional, and national conferences, as needed. Represent NC State and Study Abroad Office on-site visits to international partners and for program development, as needed.
Manage additional global responsibilities as needed.
Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor's degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
Minimum of two years professional experience in the field of international education or relevant field
Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of best practices of study abroad advising, study abroad group and exchange programs; experience in student or academic advising
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively in the development and management of study abroad programs
Ability to interact with, identify, and understand the needs of underserved and underrepresented populations
Demonstrated success working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
Excellent decision-making, organizational, and communication skills, including public speaking
Detail-oriented and well-organized; ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing demands and priorities; ability to thrive in a demanding job environment
Computer proficiency, particularly MS Excel and Google suite or similar software
Must be willing to work occasional evenings and/or weekends
Master's degree in a relevant field
Experience studying, living, and/or working abroad, particularly in the specified region
Previous experience working in a study abroad office and on a university campus strongly preferred
Experience working with faculty
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and access in education abroad
Experience setting budgets and managing program finances
Experience using Terra Dotta Software for Study Abroad
Demonstrated high work ethic with a willingness to work flexible hours, as needed
Willingness to engage in professional development to stay abreast of best practices
The ideal candidate would possess both a high level of professionalism and exhibit empathy and enthusiasm in interactions with others
