International Student and Scholar Advisor: Center for International Services
The International Student and Scholar Advisor works as part of a team of advisors responsible for advising 4500+ enrolled students and scholars on campus as well as 1000+ students authorized for OPT and STEM OPT. The Advisor also works as part of a team to deliver programming for the international student and scholar population as well as the campus.
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred. Minimum 2 years of experience in immigration advising in a higher education setting. Must be a US. citizen or permanent resident per federal regulation for qualification as a Designated School Official. Minimum two years of experience as a DSO/familiarity with SEVIS. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is needed. Experience with cross-cultural exchange and or studying or working overseas is strongly preferred.
Serves as a Designated School Official/Student and Scholar Advisor: advises students as Advisor on Call, by scheduled appointment, over the phone and through email. Processes SEVIS and immigration related benefit applications including CPT, OPT, extensions of stay, program changes, transfers in and out, dependent requests, travel signatures, ITIN applications. Conducts informational seminars on CPT and OPT. Participate in Office Programming including New Student Orientation, Connections, Mix It Up and other programs as necessary.
