Associate Director of Education Abroad
The College at Brockport
The College at Brockport, State University of New York (SUNY) is accepting applications for an Associate Director of Education Abroad. Reporting to the Director of Global Education and Engagement, the Associate Director of Education Abroad will provide strategic leadership and direction in support of the College's 100+ Education Abroad programs. The Associate Director will engage with students, faculty, staff, domestic and international partners and stakeholders to build global experiences that support The College at Brockport's mission, vision and values.
Provides oversight for the Education Abroad strategic planning, service delivery, policy development and daily operations.
Works collaboratively with various departments to build and maintain the necessary on-campus infrastructure to administer Education Abroad programs.
Works with faculty and staff to develop programs to meet the curriculum needs of a department.
Assists with managing faculty-led programs abroad in conjunction with academic departments, working collaboratively with faculty and the Senior Study Abroad Advisor to develop programs.
Manages the international internship programs.
Works closely with the Director to develop and continuously improve materials, literature and processes to meet education abroad health, safety and risk management standards.
Stays current on U.S. Travel advisories and immigration regulations at host program countries.
Assists the Director with maintaining, reviewing and updating Memorandums of Understanding and Agreements with partner schools.
Works closely with the Office of College Communications and the Education Abroad team in creating a strategic marketing plan.
Provides leadership in marketing and outreach to increase the visibility of the study abroad programs, with an emphasis on using creative and innovative strategies to increase study abroad participation amongst under-represented categories of students and under-represented majors/academic departments.
Plans, manages and implements events to enhance recruitment, including on and off campus Study Abroad Fairs, cultural events, diversity initiatives, mentoring programs, electronic communications, and similar activities with the Education Abroad team.
Uses professional judgment when reviewing complex applications for admission and enrollment management.
Manages foreign transcripts for returning Education Abroad participants and ensure academic credit is awarded appropriately.
Explores and implement best practices in program development, student recruitment and assessment.
Develops and sustains strong relationships with faculty and staff as well as international and domestic partner institutions.
Serves as the primary contact for SUNY and non-SUNY institutions who have students enrolled on a Brockport Education Abroad program.
Assists the Director with budgets, program pricing and travel expense reports.
Develops and maintains processes related to projects and tasks efficiencies.
Represents the College with the utmost of professionalism.
Serves as an alternate DSO or ARO as needed.
Manages and supervises three professional staff and student workers.
Master's degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university; experience working, living or studying abroad; demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills; experience in program management in an international education office; demonstrated risk assessment and emergency response experience; ability to execute several key projects simultaneously; demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion; effective verbal, written, and intercultural competence skills; computer skills; ability and willingness to work some evening and/or weekend events; and, ability to travel within the U.S. and travel abroad as needed.
Minimum of five years working in an Education Abroad Office; supervision of professional staff; experience developing, organizing, and administering budgets; SEVIS experience; strong presentation skills; and, experience working with Terra Dotta or similar database.
The Center for Global Education and Engagement (CGEE) leads the College's global initiatives ranging from education abroad, international enrollment, international student and scholar support services, Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) and the SUNY Washington, DC internship program. The region is known for its natural beauty, including Lake Ontario, the Genesee River (with three major waterfalls in Letchworth State Park), and the Finger Lakes region with its notable vineyards and wineries.
