The Office of Clinical Placement Coordination supports clinical placements for undergraduate, certificate, and graduate students across programs including Allied Health Sciences, Kinesiology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Psychological Sciences, Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, and, Social Work as well as other clinical placements of UConn students. The incumbent in this position will administer the contracts component of clinical placement coordination for all programs in scope, including the procurement and maintenance of new and renewed contracts between UConn and hundreds of host sites. Contracts will likely involve student, preceptor, and faculty considerations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Facilitate the development or renewal of affiliation agreements and contract terms for student clinical placements, in collaboration with healthcare and community agencies; reviews, tracks, and updates contracts with adherence to local, state, federal, and international policies and restrictions and accrediting organization guidelines.
Create and evaluate contracts and required documentation and track revisions; apply general and/or specialized legal and compliance knowledge, regulations, rules, and practices developed through education and experience.
Coordinate the execution of agreements and maintain complex filing system for University records.
Create, manage, and maintain contract templates, standard terms and conditions, best practices, and policies and procedures related to contract management. Liaise with the Offices of the General Counsel and Education Abroad to resolve contract language issues; facilitate resolutions, consulting with and making appropriate referrals to supervisor, as needed.
Serve as a resource to students, staff, preceptors, faculty, and external agencies regarding clinical placement contracts and provide assistance resolving problems.
Coordinate and track agreements between the university, schools/departments, external state Boards of Higher Education, and licensing agencies to comply with regulations and requirements for executing and maintaining clinical contracts.
Facilitate payment and track fees required to execute and/or comply with clinical contracts.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures in compliance with accreditation and department standards.
Regularly evaluate and make recommendations to improve the university's existing policies, procedures, and processes for clinical contract management.
Collect, organize, and redact information to produce reports and respond to requests for information related to clinical requirements.
Bachelor's degree in related area (public administration, law, healthcare)
6 years of related professional experience, including a minimum of two years of direct experience managing contracts in a university, legal, or healthcare environment.
Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills,
Demonstrated ability to work within tight and conflicting deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with faculty, staff, students, administrators, and external agencies.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Superior integrity and the ability to operate within and maintain a confidential environment.
7+ years of relevant professional experience.
Professional legal qualification such as a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited Law School; Paralegal or Legal Assistance Certificate Program approved by the American Bar Association, the State of Connecticut Office of Higher Education, or an accredited institution; or equivalent legal qualification.
Experience working in higher education with students and faculty.
Demonstrated knowledge of university, clinical site, state, federal, and international regulations. Experience with TYPHON, Core-Elms, American DataBank, or related clinical database software.
