Advise current and prospective undergraduate students in all College of Journalism and Mass Communications majors on academic program planning in person, through walk-in’s and appointments, and by phone and email. Participate in retention efforts, such as New Student Enrollment, and teaching first-year experience courses and recruitment efforts, when requested. Encourage overall well-being and adjustment to the University through providing direction as students make progress towards graduation and explore interests related to their major and career interests. Help students identify quality experiences through internships, research, education abroad, service and leadership opportunities.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years of experience in higher education with evidence of 1:1 student interaction in academic advising or related areas in student affairs required. Master’s degree may be considered for experience. Must have ability to learn extensive requirements, policies and procedures, and a use of a variety of technology platforms. Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, and time management skills. Must have ability to work effectively in a team environment. Must have demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
Master’s degree in higher education administration, college student personnel, counseling or related field preferred. Demonstrated academic advising or counseling skills desirable. Experience using student information systems and technology platforms helpful. Public speaking experience preferred.
