The International Services Office is looking for an International Services Adviser. This position will report to the Associate Director and will support the University’s mission and commitment to excellence and diversity in our students, faculty, staff and all other activities.
Description: The International Services Advisor will join a team of twelve full-time professionals dedicated to International Services, within UC International. UC International is the university-wide unit, within the Office of the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs & Provost, for serving international students and scholars, education abroad students, as well as the development of the university's international strategic planning. The International Services Advisor will advise international students and scholars on immigration and visa matters, serve as DesignatedSchool Official and Alternate Responsible Officer for F-1 and J-1 programs, and assist with the planning and coordinating of all office programs and activities. UC International Services uses the Sunapsis International Office platform for business practices and SEVIS compliance. Starting salary for the position is based on education and experience level. Possibility to work remotely 2-3 days per week once trained.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Using the Sunapsis International Office system (internally branded iBearcatsGlobal), process immigration benefits and documents for F-1 students and J-1 scholars.
Responsible for SEVIS reporting, compliance, and student/scholar case management.
Liaise with International Admissions, The Graduate School, One Stop, Academic Advising, faculty, staff, and other relevant stakeholders.
Provide general support for international students and make appropriate referrals to students requiring professional help.
Assist with development and implementation of unit programs including: immigration check-in, workshops, retreats and other social/cultural programs.
Perform related duties based on department need.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with one (3) years experience; -OR- Associate’s degree with three (5) years experience; -OR- seven (7)) years experience.Degree must be in a related field.Experience must be in advising international students, scholars and specialty workers.Experience may also require three (3) years supervision. Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States to satisfy Department of State regulations.
Knowledge of best practices in international higher education and/or providing services to international students.
Ability to interact with students, administrators, and others in a highly professional manner.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Experience using the Sunapsis International Office platform.
