The Director of Financial Aid (DFA) oversees the operation of Financial Aid Student Services department. The Director ensures the quality and content of the campus’ financial aid process for its current and future students. He/she builds and leads a team of well-trained Financial Aid Advisors to provide exceptional Financial Aid student services to administer all aspects of student financial aid counseling to assist our students in understanding, applying for, and securing financing for their education at Ameritech, in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by Federal, State and institutional policy.
Works closely and collaborate with all Enrollment Services departments including Admissions, Student Accounts, Registrar and Student Services for each entering cohort
Manages the award communication and financial aid packaging process and procedures from applicant status to enrollment
Oversees and coaches Financial Aid Advisors in guiding students and families through all stages of enrollment via interpersonal advising, publications, workshops and correspondence with a keen eye toward constituent service
Leads, trains, supervises and provides guidance on student financial aid counseling and financial aid processing
Supervises the processing of financial aid records in accordance with Federal and State regulations; assist with and provides guidance in the preparation and maintenance of financial aid packaging
Provides leadership on various working groups dedicated to streamlining and improving policies and procedures across function areas of the College
Ensures a high level of customer service through staff training, effective assessment and utilization of technology, process and policy development, and proactive communication
Detects and solves student packaging and processing issues using good insight, judgment and innovative, creative thinking
Extensively analyzes data to determine statuses of student financial aid application process and financial aid awarding processing effectiveness, to create dynamic solutions as well as inform strategic planning and tactical planning
Creates, distributes and presents reports to all applicable departments
Monitors and maintains the College’s compliance with constantly changing federal and state regulations on student aid programs
Manages the aid administration of the student population. This includes current and prospective students on application procedures, eligibility requirements, internal policies and procedures, awarding of financial aid
Participation in state, regional and national professional development activities to ensure a complete understanding of federal and state regulations and remain current on changes to the federal and state aid programs
Assures that students are serviced at the highest of standards
Assures that all communications to students and staff are correct and timely
Works to develop familiarity and expertise with the college financial aid and student information systems
