Director, Mexico Gateway Office

The University of Texas at Austin seeks a representative to serve as Director of the Mexico Gateway Office located on the campus of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) in Mexico City, Mexico. The gateway office serves as UT’s focal point for the support of research collaborations, virtual exchanges, scholarly symposia, alumni engagement, and other activities in Mexico and the region. The Director will be an employee of The University of Texas at Austin Mexico Institute (UTAMI), a non-profit civil association licensed to operate in Mexico. The Director of the Mexico Gateway Office carries out their duties under the direction of the Senior Vice Provost for Global Engagement (SVPGE) at UT Austin, the Mexico Gateway Office, and UT Austin as represented by the interests and needs of faculty and students on campus, as well as alumni. The Director works closely with the SVPGE’s leadership team and UT Austin campus stakeholders to identify and implement strategic global engagement opportunities for UT Austin, expand the number and scope of global programs, and increase UT Austin’s engagement in Mexico and the region. Required Qualifications Master’s degree required; doctoral degree preferred. At least 10 years of relevant professional experience working in higher education, non-profit administration, or a U.S multinational firm in Mexico. Experience with U.S. higher education and/or U.S. university students. Native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English with excellent writing, editing, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and commit to the values of global education and research and their relationship to the mission of a public university. Intercultural competency and diplomacy with the ability to be a nimble team player. Knowledge of productivity software including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Ability to travel occasionally to the U.S., throughout Mexico, and the wider region, as necessary.
