Serving as the Designated School Official (DSO), the International Student Advisor will advise international students interpreting, and implementing policies and procedures and advise international students following policies and procedures with compliance of institutional and federal immigration regulations, including maintaining status and work authorization. In addition, serve as the primary advisor and support contact to assist international students with their cultural adjustment and integration into campus and the Greater Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area.
1 to 3 years of related experience. Serving as a Designated School Official, International student advising, SEVIS maintenance, and Student services experience. Knowledge of F1 regulations.
Must meet regulatory eligibility to be a Designated School Official; DSO status requires U.S. citizenship or U.S. residence status, per Department of Homeland Security Regulations. Knowledge of the DHS SEVIS database system, as well as immigration regulations pertaining to the F-1 student visa and SEVIS reporting requirements.
