The Office of Global Engagement at Trevecca Nazarene University is dedicated to strategically growing the population of international students enrolled in all programs at TNU, holistically serving our enrolled international students, and providing transformative options for all Trevecca students to engage with a global community.
The Coordinator for the Office of Global Engagement serves as the primary contact for international student advising on campus, and provides administrative and general support to the functions of international student recruitment, onboarding, and global engagement opportunities for TNU students. The Coordinator will work to ensure that the office of Global Engagement provides fast and comprehensive customer service to the university’s international students and their families.
International Student Advising & Support (70%)
Serve as primary initial point of customer services for international students and their families
Under supervision of the Director, create and run orientation programs for international students, at both undergraduate and graduate levels
Meet regularly with international students, both proactively and reactively, to offer support and advising, and connect them to university resources
Create and maintain a separate Immigration student file for all Trevecca Nazarene University international students from all campus programs both undergraduate and graduate.
Advise international students on nonimmigrant regulations including visa application process and maintaining visa status.
Endorse all SEVIS I-20's printed via the SEVIS (Student and Exchange Visitor Information System) web site.
Facilitate application process for Optional Practical Training application to USCIS (United States Citizenship and Immigration Service).
Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) in SEVIS and ensure standards and ethics as recommended by SEVP (Student and Exchange Visitor Program) and NAFSA: Association of International Educators (National Association of Foreign Student Advisors) are followed by Trevecca Nazarene University.
Maintain networking relationships with Music City NAFSA and TAIE (Tennessee Association of International Educators) to ensure best practices for international student support on campus
Coordinate with student employment managers on campus to manage work study opportunities for international students
For international students granted a work study option, provide an orientation and assistance to the student, focusing on improving success rates for on-campus employers and the student employees
Chair and manage the university’s international student council
Collaborate with faculty sponsors to plan events and programming through Trevecca’s student organizations serving international students (Futuro, Namaste, etc.)
