The Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement (UGE) has offered a virtual exchange, the Global Columbia Collaboratory (GCC), since Summer 2020. In the GCC, participants learn about global challenges, develop solutions, and enhance global competencies.
UGE invites applications for a Program Director to be hired at the rank of Staff Associate. This a part-time (10-17.5 hrs/week) position currently open for a summer 2021 program with the possibility of appointment for future semesters depending on performance and funding. Working closely with the UGE staff, graduate assistants, and partners; the Program Director oversees the academic and programmatic components of the GCC. The Director is accountable for strategic planning initiatives as well as assessment of educational effectiveness. The Program Director serves as an important conduit connecting the program with other University departments and partners, communicating information and contributing to the growth and improvement of the institution. The Collaboratory is a virtual global exchange and benefits from facilitators from around the world.
Provides general oversight for all aspects of virtual exchanges; serving as director of virtual exchange programs, specifically the GCC, including program management as well as future growth strategy
Ensures the development, delivery, and facilitation of content, such as seminars, reflection sessions, ideation/collaboration activities, human-centered design workshops
Provides programmatic guidance through participation in staff meetings, task forces, and committee meetings Develops admissions plan and enrollment targets. Designs and implements marketing and recruitment strategy for program
Assesses plans, coordinates, administers, and evaluates programs, projects, processes, and procedures
Prepares budget recommendations, submits justifications for budget items, and monitors and controls program expenditures
Leads, builds and facilitates workshops
Chairs activities of program search committees in relation to evaluations of applicants
Develops, implements, evaluates and refines recruitment plan and growth strategies for the program
Works closely with staff to develop assessment and evaluation mechanisms
Initiates curriculum changes and other activities to maintain a high quality academic program
Graduate degree(s) in education, educational/learning technology or closely related field or undergraduate degree with relevant work experience in closely related fields
Five or more years of experience directing educational programs or providing administrative support for programs
Proven track record of developing, implementing and/or growing virtual programs, virtual exchanges, collaborative online international learning (COIL) programs
Experience hosting large, multi-faceted virtual (and in person) events
Proficiency in graphic design/illustration software (In Design/Photoshop/Illustrator and video editing applications (Adobe Pro), recording, editing and mounting web base videos
Experience with learning management systems and tools (Canvas, Blackboard, etc.)
Familiarity with G-suite and other web based application
