Drake University's Office of Student Account Services is accepting applications for the Student Account Consultant position. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented with excellent customer service skills. Reporting directly to the Director of Student Account Services, the Student Account Consultant will serve as a Student Accounts liaison offering in-depth customer service to students, parents, colleagues and third parties regarding their financial account under FERPA regulations.
Respond to inquiries from students, parents, colleagues, and third parties via e-mail, telephone, or in person regarding student accounts balances, e-bills, payment plans, 1098-T questions, and other items relating to student billing and payments of outstanding balances. Re-direct students and parents to appropriate offices to address issues that cannot be resolved in the Student Accounts office.
Periodically review each student that has an outstanding balance for the current term(s). Contact students not having a current payment arrangement in place. Work with students to facilitate payment of outstanding amounts due. Assist in resolution of billing issues as able, and through directing students to other offices as necessary.
Review daily refund report to verify amounts of proposed refunds. Resolve refund issues as necessary. Process refunds and prepare refund journal entry. At the beginning of each term process Parent PLUS loan refunds.
Along with the other consultant, work with campus departments to make sure course fees and various waivers are appropriately applied to student accounts.
Maintain list of students participating in education abroad programs each term. Bill participating students as invoiced by the affiliate program providers. Work with students and Global Engagement office to resolve issues.
Work closely with the Global Engagement to assess charges for international health insurance and assist the Director of Student Account Services with related 1042S tax reporting requirements.
Monitor online employer deferment process. Process pending employer deferments and notify students once completed. Send reminder to students with unpaid deferment balances prior to expiration of deferment period.
Review, verify, and close all financial transactions for batch processing daily.
Review daily hold report and lift holds from student accounts as warranted.
