The Division of Academic Affairs at Towson University seeks an Associate Director for the International Student & Scholar Office (ISSO). Reporting to the Director of the ISSO, this position serves as the senior international student advisor and lead staff member on F-1 regulations and policy and is the point person on F1/F2 immigration-related issues.
Provide leadership in analysis of F-1 visa regulations and F-1 status-related policies
Coordinate all written (print and electronic) government regulation-related informational materials targeted for the F-1 student population
Advise international students on immigration, academic, financial, personal, cultural adjustment, and cross-cultural communication matters
Ensure compliance with regulations of the Department of Homeland Security regarding monitoring and reporting information on the international student population at TU
Work with the ISSO team members and other university offices to ensure a campus environment that facilitates international student success
Provide staff leadership and office management in the absence of the ISSO Director
Support the Director with visa services for faculty, research scholars, and other non-students
Provide backup for immigration work for all other visa types and nonimmigrant classifications and serve as a resource for I-9s
Supervise the ISSO Administrative Assistant
Five years of experience working with international students and/or scholars
Knowledge of immigration regulations and current trends within the international education field
Excellent communication and administrative skills
Ability to work as an effective team member with leadership experience
Must be able to multi-task and be highly organized, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
Eligible to become a DHS Designated School Official and DOS Alternate Responsible Officer - U.S. permanent resident or citizen status required
Previous work experience in an international student office at a higher education institution
Leadership and/or supervisory experience
Experience with SEVIS and web-based management systems (e.g. Terra Dotta)
Ability to speak a foreign language
