Position Summary
This position serves as a member of the Office of Admissions leadership team and is focused on recruiting and enrolling diverse, highly talented students who are able to succeed and thrive at Washington University in St. Louis. The Assistant Dean and Director of Graduate Recruitment is an innovative and highly collaborative leader with the skills to conceptualize and execute strategic recruitment and outreach plans. Oversees an extensive recruiting program to develop a strong pool of applicants, creates a corporate partner strategy and outreach plan, and manages a team of graduate program recruiters.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Student Outreach & Recruitment Strategy
- Under general oversight of the Senior Associate Dean, execute strategic and tactical plans to strengthen and expand the applicant pool to achieve enrollment and quality targets.
- Designs, updates, and monitors plans for international, domestic/national, and regional recruitment strategies.Â
- Utilizing benchmarking data obtained by the Operations team, nimbly pivots recruitment strategy to inform innovative practices and strategy to maintain relevant recruitment techniques and practices.
- Develops and monitors performance metrics for the recruiting staff to assess its impact and effectiveness. Works in partnership with the Operations team to prepare regular reports, statistical analyses and summaries on a regular basis.
- Works with the Assistant Dean and Director of Graduate Admissions to research, identify, select and implement tools, techniques and programs designed to attract, evaluate and select top applicants. Strong focus on customer-focused selling will be required.
- Collaborates with the Weston Career Center and Marketing & Communications to continue development of new, effective corporate partnership strategies and outreach to increase an engaged recruitment pipeline for professional and online programs.
- Develops a full-scale recruitment matrix including recruitment events and messaging to achieve Olinâ™s goals and enhance the visibility of the school in an increasingly competitive market. Executes this plan with full life cycle engagement from Olin and university partners.
- Oversees strategic recruitment projects in the Graduate Programs Office. This includes outreach efforts such as off-site recruitment events and conferences, message development and execution, and recruiting policy and procedures.
- Understands and values the recruitment of underrepresented student populations and working with diverse students.
- Participates in professional organizations and committees at the international, national and regional level.
Candidate Recruitment
- Executes an effective local, national and international student recruiting program for the Olin Portfolio of Graduate Programs.
- Provides oversight and direction for high-profile events, all recruiting materials, and related activities.
- Advises potential students and the community regarding programs, admission eligibility and application procedures.
- Manages the recruitment process of 5,000+ applications annually.
- Collaborates with the Assistant Dean and Director of Graduate Admissions and the Director of Financial Service to devise strategies to increase yield across the portfolio utilizing tools such as scholarship and relationship management techniques.
Supervision & Partnership
- Supervises Associate Director of Recruitment.
- Works closely with other teams, departments and outside partners to achieve strategic goals related to recruitment strategy.
- Supervises two Associate Directors and indirectly manage a team of nine graduate program recruiters.
- In partnership with the Operations team, responsible for the hiring, training, coaching and professional development management of the recruitment team.
Other duties assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Masterâ™s (MBA) or other graduate degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of international transcript evaluation, domestic and international recruitment and enrollment management strategies, and methods of marketing and recruiting in a business school or graduate/professional school setting.
- Strong leadership, management, supervision, and planning skills.Â
- Skills to initiate and execute complex programs, projects, taskforces, data analysis, and strategies.
- At least five years of increasingly responsible experience leading a successful admissions, recruiting, or business development program (including prospect identification and cultivation) in higher education or within a large complex institution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelorâ™s degree required.
- Seven years of significant work experience in Admissions, College Access, or Diversity Recruitment.
- Must have a valid driverâ™s license. Must be able to travel (car and plane).

Salary Range
Base pay is commensurate with experience.
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
