Based in Greenville, NC the International Admissions Counselor is responsible for representing East Carolina University (ECU) to multiple constituencies, including prospective students, their families, and school/community contacts around the world. The International Admissions Counselor reports to the Director for International Enrollment and Engagement and is an integral part of international student recruitment to ECU undergraduate programs and ECU Language Academy. In consultation with their supervisor, the counselor implements recruiting initiatives to meet application and enrollment goals, as well as conducting application review for undergraduate programs and the intensive English program. The counselor manages planning and follow-up of recruitment activities including virtual visits, individual meetings, and has the potential to travel.
15% – Representing the university to prospective international students, families, counselor and other key staff at secondary schools, community colleges, and advising centers through recruitment events (virtual fairs, webinars, presentations, etc).
45% – Provide proactive, expert counseling of international students and families on educational opportunities at ECU, admission criteria, policies and procedures, scholarship opportunities, student services, enrollment steps, and student visa application.
20% – Review international student applications & and process immigration documents for admitted students (I-20 processing).
5% – Maintaining proficiency in systems, policies, procedures and industry best-practices related to recruitment, international admissions, enrollment management, and F-1 student visas.
5% – Contributing to marketing, communications, and online resources, including brochures, social media, web pages, online application, and International Student Hub in Canvas.
5% – Scholarship review, co-hosting International New Student Orientation.
5% – Contribute to the International Enrollment & Engagement team within Global Affairs through other duties as assigned by the Director.

One year of related experience
Cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills with diverse populations, particularly those for whom English is not their first language, are imperative for this position
