The University of Pittsburgh's Global Experiences Office (GEO) was created in response to COVID-19, extending the product portfolio to include domestic experiential learning, virtual coursework, and programming for international students in their home countries. The office has recently redesigned its mission, core values, marketing and communications strategy and materials, and customer base to reflect the future of global learning at Pitt. In its first year since returning to mobility (the 2021-22 academic year), the office sent approximately 1,200 students go abroad, and the office must process these students from promotion to advising, program application, contract, and health, safety, and security orientation. Prior to the pandemic, the office shepherded more than 2100 students on its mobility programming annually. 
 
The Director of the Global Experiences Office of the University Center for International Studies (UCIS) reports to the Executive Director of Global Engagement, is a member of the global engagement senior team at (UCIS) and has overall direct responsibility for all GEO personnel. The Director must demonstrate capacity to successfully oversee a staff of 23 across 7 locations including recruiting, performance management, annual goal setting, professional development, and coaching. In addition, the development and administration of Pitt’s own study abroad, study away, virtual programs and exchanges are also the responsibility of this position, as well as the coordination of two national scholarship programs.
 
The Director must demonstrate significant and proven leadership and philanthropic experience in non-profit and/or academic environments for global learning. They must exhibit depth of knowledge on, and experience engaging, the cultures represented across the GEO portfolio of programs. The successful candidate will have well-rounded exposure and experience working across sectors (e.g. industry, education, communications, marketing, management) and academic disciplines. The Director should exhibit emotional intelligence and be experienced in management and operations, outreach and engagement, fundraising, program development and assessment, data collection, reporting and analysis.

Extensive knowledge of the field of International Education is required (5 - 6 years experience.) Preference given to candidates who are recognized within the academic community, as well as nationally among peer institutions and affiliate programs and internationally among partner institutions, as a seasoned professional with extensive academic experience.
